How do I manage/update my model training settings?
As we explain in our Privacy Policy, we retain certain data that you share with us to help train and improve our AI models. This helps make Character.AI better for you and everyone who uses it. For example, user-generated content can help us improve the creative writing qualities and functionality of our models and improve the AI-driven conversational experience.
Before we use data to improve and train our generative AI models, we take steps to reduce the amount of personal information that may be included in our training dataset.
If you are in the European Economic Area ("EEA") or the United Kingdom ("UK"), and you would like to opt out of us using your chat content to train our generative AI models, you can follow the steps below:
On App:
- Log into your Character.ai account.
- Navigate to Settings.
- Select "Data & Privacy".
- De-Select "Improve the Model for Everyone".
On Web:
- Log into your Character.ai account.
- Navigate to Settings.
- Select "Account".
- Select "Manage Account & Data".
- Select "Model Improvement".
- De-Select "Improve the Model for Everyone".
Once you opt out, new content will not be used to train our generative AI models. You can still provide feedback to us about your interactions with characters (e.g., through the thumbs up/down or reporting content), and we still may use your data to improve other aspects of our services like search, recommendations, and safety classifiers.
